Well, seeing as it has been roughly 1 year and 2 months since I created this About Me section, I would say that is a testament to my procrastination and part of who I am, how fitting.

So a little about me…

My full name is George Metz, the third to be exact. I’m currently attending The Pennsylvania State University, or Penn State if you’re into the whole brevity thing. I’m currently going for a B.S. in World Language Education (K-12) with a Spanish option…in the end I just tell people my major is Spanish Education and I want to be a Spanish teacher. My career ideas have changed over the years. At first I wanted to work in some areas of physics or astronomy, which led to a desire to go into computer networking, which led to me my final choice of Spanish Ed. Yeah, I know, it makes no sense. I considered politics for a brief period of time until I realized that I have written and said way too many offensive things to ever make it into public office. Even now I realize that I will be a classroom teacher and get my principal certification and leap at an administrative position the first chance I get. Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to enjoy being a classroom teacher but I know where the money is at, and I opt for that.

On a more personal level, I’m a rather sarcastic person with the occasional dash of wit. The various setbacks and disappointments throughout my life and my lack of the ability to properly cope with it all coupled with a perpetual relationship status of single have left me cynical and bitter on many days. Although I’m bitter, some days I have sort of manic stages where I couldn’t be happier and I am bouncing off walls. As far as my personality I start out as shy with new people but after testing the water, I am very talkative and out-going with people I know well. Of course, mood swings often put me in moods where I don’t feel like doing anything or talking to anyone, but most of the time I’m friendly.

I enjoy music and movies of all genres. I got Netflix last October and have been burning through my queue ever since. I mainly target seasons of TV shows like Arrested Development and The West Wing. I’m going to start Niptuck seasons 1-4 pretty soon. As far as music my tastes go to everything except country music and most rap. I respect both genres as music (some people would call them noise), but it’s just not my bag. I’m also a big fan of computer games, mostly First Person Shooters and Real Time Strategy games. I lost about 1 year of my life in 2003-2004 to Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat so I’m trying my best not to relive that year. I recently bought an xbox 360 but only have a few games for it, console systems are ok for me but not my favorite.

Wow, I’m getting pretty specific. I’m done with this for now though, more will follow later…maybe.

Well, seeing as it is 100 degrees here and not getting cooler I’ll add on to this. I think it’s important to know my general political leanings seeing as a very good chunk of my entries on this are some sort of political discourse. I would classify myself as a moderate, which obviously makes the most sense to me. I mean, conservatives and liberals and nice and stuff but I realize that neither side is going to ever be victorious over the other, you need to compromise. Compromise is what it is all about in politics. I tend to be more liberal in areas concerning human rights and scientific research whereas I am more conservative in the economic area. That is to say, I don’t agree with a socialist economic model in most areas, but again, I can’t have blanketed views because I agree with the socialization of education…just not industry. I also don’t let religion cloud my perception of anything, mostly because I’m not very religious and it’s also just a logical fallacy. I mean, if you quote a religious text such as the Bible for your evidence you need to realize that the Bible means nothing to about 5/6 of the world’s population. I realize this is scattered because I am just writing as I go. I think this can conclude the about me section though unless I think of anything particularly fascinating.
